The Flamingo Hotel opened on the Strip in 1946. In 1947, the name was changed to the Fabulous Flamingo. In 1972, it was purchased by the Hilton Hotel chain and renamed the Flamingo Hilton. In 1999, it became the Flamingo Las Vegas.

It was briefly owned by Benjamin "Bugsy" Siegel, whose story was dramatized in the movie "Bugsy".
